Would you believe I moved here for the weather?

It's pissing down again!

And according to Pamela at Secret Tenerife , the media are broadcasting advice to us weatherbeaten folk, including, "Stay away from the seafront and beach - 4 metre waves expected."

Obviously the warnings slipped past these tourists, happily snapping pics of each other outside my office this afternoon.

Hi Tenerife Scribbler, the rain has shifted from here to there, eh? Phew. We had buckets of it for weeks! I'll take rain by a blue sea any day though...we have brown ocean.

Pamela! I thought you had spurned all that competitive big city stuff for your village life! Yours is indeed, greyer than mine. Are there any tourists fumbling around in that?

And Guyana-gyal welcome to this side of the Atlantic. Thanks for sending the rain... um, any chance of taking it back now? The novelty has worn off.

Yes, I thought I had spurned it all, then they throw this smog/fog stuff at us as an unwelcome reminder.

No, we joke (half joke) that we don't generally get any tourists around here - unless they are lost! :)

At best a few will drive through the valley and stop only to take photos of La Montañeta.

One time I was in Buenavista with my mum, a woman from Birmingham came rushing up, as she'd heard me speak English, because, yes, she was lost and wanted to know the way back to Las Americas. Heaven knows how she ended up in Buenavista!

Actually, there is a camp site in the valley, plus a new rural hostel and a few "casas rurales", plus the hiking routes, but these do not attract your usual sort of British holiday maker.

Or maybe ... the smog is a bit higher today. I just looked out of the window to see two men get out of a hire car with a camera. Wooo ... tourists?

Oh wow - I'd swap it happily for the vicious, dry cold wind currently battering this island. The grass on the other side.. etc (perhaps not the best metaphor. Your grass must definitely be greener..

People never think it can happen to them. I hope they were safe.
